This chawan is Kyō ware, a traditional pottery produced in Kyoto. Pottery has a history in Kyoto dating back to the late 5th century.

Teaware care instructions:
- Hand wash only. Do not use in microwave, on stovetop, or in dishwasher.
- Before first use, soak in warm water and dry thoroughly.
