This chawan is Mashiko ware, a traditional pottery produced in Mashiko, Tochigi. This area is known for their simple, rustic styles and dates back to the 1850's.

Teaware care instructions:
- Hand wash only. Do not use in microwave, on stovetop, or in dishwasher.
- Before first use, soak in warm water and dry thoroughly.
