The Story

Though we’ll do our best to obtain this tea in the future, there is no guarantee.

The epitome of lightly steamed sencha. Pure and brilliant with the softest possible touch of astringency in the finish and a long, latent sweetness.

Produced May 2023 by Fumiki Kawaguchi in the Sayama region of the Saitama Prefecture. It’s a lightly steamed tea made from the Harumidori cultivar growing in the Ichikawaen Tea Farm. The Sayama region is further north than Japan’s traditional tea areas. The cooler weather causes the plants to grow thicker leaves which can bring more strength to the cup. This is a rare opportunity to experience the new Harumidori cultivar, which is a recent development and not widely cultivated yet.
